Forging a More Perfect Union

Welcome to Toward A More Perfect Union, a vital blog dedicated to exploring the pressing issues facing the United States today. We delve into challenges, propose actionable solutions, and foster a national conversation to strengthen our democracy. Join us as we build awareness, ignite dialogue, and lay the groundwork for a future where every American can thrive. This is more than a blog; it's the beginning of a movement for change.

Please understand, the producers of the site are just starting, we are working on videos, new topics, and correcting issues with the current site. But we have limited time, because of other jobs and commitments! Your contributions will help us form a more perfect website, which will help us correct flaws in our government, which will make our lives better.

A LEADER,

not a politician

We need to be more careful when considering/selecting a candidate for President (POTUS).

We probably ended up with one of the worst choices for president in one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world. If you didn’t vote, you let the wealthy and those with questionable motives make the decision for you. Not voting is still voting—maybe even worse—because you allow people who don’t have your best interests at heart to choose for you. In 2024, three million fewer voters turned out, and sadly, many of those who voted were misled by lies.

We need someone who wants to fix the issues we have, just that plain and simple. They must love our country and want it to function properly. The American people want to have the American Dream again.  Nobody has stepped up to fix the issues.  That's why I made this website: to propose fixes, and get that very necessary discussion going

We need to tackle a lot of issues if we want to get back on track. Take “lobstergate” for example—the Pentagon spent $93 billion on pretty frivolous things, including $7 million on lobster in just one month, the last month of its budget year. I’m not here to call anyone names or criticize those in charge; I just want to make sure it doesn’t happen again. The root of the problem is the way the government handles budgeting. With its use-it-or-lose-it policy, departments risk getting less money in future years if they don’t spend all their current funds. We should change that policy to have auditors check if the money was spent wisely and truly needed, and, if not, deduct the wasted amount from the department’s future budget. We could even offer bonuses to employees if their department saves money and cuts spending. I came up with the above solution in a minute—so why haven’t more people suggested ideas? It might not be the perfect solution, but let’s start looking for more intelligent governance!

Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) highlights significant corruption in the US government. We need to be uncovered, it will take time and that implementing solutions will be even more challenging, but it's still achievable. We became a country against many odds we can fix issues that have arisen over the years.

Everyone deserves access to healthcare, including mental, dental, vision, and hearing services. We can address issues with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), but first, we need an informed public, people need to know there’s no such thing as Obamacare—it’s just a nickname Republicans used to criticize the Act. Many problems with the ACA stem from changes made by Republicans, which ended up benefiting the wealthy. To make it truly effective, we’ll need a team of experts to find solutions that ensure affordable, comprehensive coverage. It will also take cooperation from all sides to prioritize the well-being of the American people, along with smart marketing so the public doesn’t reject it or get misled by labels like “McCormickcare.”

We need affordable housing. I have several ideas to float, but once again, I am one person, and I know that, and that's why we will assemble a great team so we can tackle the issues of today and tomorrow. "link to housing" Webcasts

We need a fair living wage, and a practical first step is raising the minimum wage. However, this must be balanced to prevent businesses from hiking prices, which would cancel out the benefit. As a leader, I understand the importance of negotiating with businesses to find a compromise that works for everyone. I also want the American people to know I’m on their side, even though my ability to act has limits. Additionally, we must invest in research to develop new products that create high-paying jobs.

Everyone—citizens, visitors, and migrants—deserves to be treated fairly and equally, from birth to the end of life. This means addressing issues like bullying in schools and ensuring dignity at every stage. We should put measures in place to prevent mistreatment and build self-esteem early on, which could help reduce mass shootings and, ideally, eliminate homicide altogether. While it’s an ambitious goal, it’s far better than settling for thousands of homicides each year. People with strong self-esteem tend to be happier and more productive, and that foundation needs to be built early.

We need to tackle climate change now. For those who doubt it’s real or caucused by humans let's have the conversation with you sitting in your garage with the door closed and the car running (don’t actually do this). You know it’s deadly because of carbon monoxide in a confined space. Now, scale that up to billions of cars idling in traffic. It’s not just cars, coal, or fossil fuels—though they’re the main culprits—but there are other contributors too. And for those who think it won’t affect them, it already is, through rising prices for food, insurance, and everything we buy. We’ve only felt a fraction of the impact from the gases we’ve already emitted, so the time to act is now! Think about your children, grandchildren, and even your wallet. Remember the ripple effect—when it gets hotter, we crank up the AC and burn even more fuel. Exacerbate, Exacerbate, Exacerbate!

Social Security and the national debt need to be addressed. I’ve shared solutions for these, as well as other issues, throughout the website. We face many challenges, and it’s going to take a lot of effort, including taxing the wealthy, to get us out of our current situation. Some of these problems are tied to how we ended up where we are today. "link to solutions" - Webcasts

Take Rick Perry, for example. People were cheering for him as president, and he’d served as Texas governor for over 14 years. But during the 2012 presidential debates, he fell out of favor when he couldn’t name the three branches of government—despite Texas, like all states, being modeled on the U.S. government’s structure. Even my 12-year-old was yelling at the TV over his lack of knowledge. We ended up with someone with less knowledge and caring them him, twice!

We need someone from the outside. We have tried seasoned politicians, ex-military, and the rich, and we are in a very deep hole. Let's try something different. It is a country for the people by the people; we are the people. Lets find sombody with a brain because we need them now more than ever I will think the time I spent was worth it.

Thank You

Gene McCormick

Our vision for America

Toward A More Perfect Union was born from a profound belief that America's greatest strength lies in its people. As an average person that has seen the horrors, manipulation, and mistreatment cast upon us by our government, I am disgusted. I come from the middle class, I can't imagine how hard it is on the poor.  It just has to suck down there. I am committed to righting most of the wrongs that are being thrust upon us. I will dissect complex societal problems – from economic disparity to civic disengagement – and present well-researched, unifying solutions. This platform serves not only as a hub for critical thought but as a foundational step towards a presidential campaign, offering a clear path to leadership and a renewed promise for our nation. I invite you to engage with my insights and become part of this essential journey.

Please leave comments, it`s not my way or the highway. let's come up with the America we want. The only people who have less weight on this site are the rich. They already have been served, so it`s back of the line for them. So please take your shoes off and stay awhile.
